If I were to sum up this year’s Christmas trend in fashion it would be “Sparkle”. I am seeing small sequins and large paillettes on clothing, footwear (especially boots), and accessories. I think this trend is fantastic because anyone can wear sparkles to feel festive – they deflect the light and look good on many body types.
You can easily incorporate sequins into your daytime or night outfits. Wear a sequin top with jeans during the day and then swap out your shoes and bag for an elegant night look. There are easy ways to incorporate sparkle into your accessories such as metallic fishnet stockings with an otherwise simple leather skirt. Go with rhinestone embellished earmuffs, a sequin beanie, or bejeweled gloves. The one sparkly trend I am super excited about is rhinestone crossbody bags! Rhinestone boots are everywhere this year in tall or short and in any color so just go for it!
Red has always been a holiday staple, but this year it is having a major resurgence and it’s basically the new black. Anything with Marabou feathers is to die for this season. Other trends are textured tweeds giving Chanel vibes as well as shiny, sumptuous velvet. Combine these with feathers and you’re set! Flashback to the 80’s; the power suit is trending (with shoulder pads and all!). For the holidays try colors like winter white and hot pink. The sexiest trend I’m seeing is sheer dresses with embellished bodices. For day to night, go with a sheer top (with the appropriate underpinnings) under a blazer during the day and let it stand alone at night.
