Getting bathroom ready for Thanksgiving guests

Preparing your bathroom for Thanksgiving guests is a thoughtful way to make them feel comfortable and welcome. Here are some tips to get your bathroom ready:

Clean and declutter – give the sink, countertop, and toilet a good cleaning. Clean the mirror so that it does not have streaks. If cleaning is not your thing, hire a cleaner! Put away your personal items like hairbrushes and curling irons, etc.  If the shower head is clogged, clean it with a solution of water and vinegar or head to the hardware store and buy a new one so that the water flows well. Fix any other things that need repair while you are at it.

As a designer, I suggest a few easy fixes before your guests arrive. Your local handyman or electrician can complete this work before the holidays. If you need to change out plumbing fixtures; Now is the time. Make sure all the new finishes match each other and the towel bars.

If you are changing out fixtures, it is also a great time to switch out your old light fixture for a gorgeous new style. Vanity lights have come a long way!  Adding new framed mirror will really complement the look and give a whole new vibe to the space.

Buy fluffy new towels and lots of them! Bath sheets are most luxurious. Get white for a clean feel and dark washcloths for makeup removal. If you are short on counter space, roll them up in a basket. Holiday themed towels are fun if you have the storage space for them during the year.

Provide an amenity kit. Include things that they may not have packed like cotton balls, hand lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, disposable razors, hand soaps, shower caps. Many of the items that hotels provide for travelers are especially helpful since we can all be forgetful!

Include a nice diffuser in holiday or spa-like scents.

Get matching waste bin, tissue box, and soap pump. Stock toilet paper – plenty of toilet paper; you don’t want your guest having to ask for more toilet paper – it’s kind of embarrassing.

Your Thanksgiving guests will appreciate a clean comfortable, welcoming bathroom.
