I think people are ready for a little more glam in their space without sacrificing comfort and lucky for you, this trend is easy to implement. My first DIY recommendation is to layer texture and color. Add throw pillows and blankets in rich fabrics such as velvet, chenille, or faux fur. A drapery swap can make a huge difference as well. Velvet, satin, silk; any luxurious fabric will really look opulent. You can also utilize any rich looking rugs in deep jewel tones, but especially Orientals which evoke a deep heritage of affluence. Utilize warm neutral colors and mix them with accents of deep jewel tone colors like emerald green, sapphire blue, or royal purple. Ornate details are a large part of this trend so don’t spare on the accessories. Mirrors, chandeliers, ornamental vases, and detailed art pieces with special frames will really speak to this. Don’t be afraid to mix metallic finishes like gold, brass, or copper in hardware or picture frames. If you have a bigger budget, invest in a few statement pieces like a printed velvet or chenille tufted sofa with fringe on the skirt or an ornamental coffee table. Finally, mix in layers of lighting by adding bejeweled pendant lights or special decorative lamps to create a cozy ambiance.
