Are you bored with your holiday décor? Can’t muster the excitement to pull out your red and green storage bins this year? Let our ideas on current trends help bring excitement to your holiday décor. What’s popular can change from year to year, influenced by current events, popular culture, and evolving design aesthetics. The ideas below are not a comprehensive list, but rather trends our firm is excited about this year.
The most colorful trend you will see this year is no surprise, Barbiecore. Since the popularity of the movie, look for pink, hot pink, and gold holiday trees, tableware, barware and decor. Incorporate pink into your barware or glassware by searching “pink” on Dragon Glassware or Vietri websites. You can’t go wrong embracing the Barbie glamour trend.
Another exciting trend is sophisticated yet whimsical beading and embroidery on the table. We love gold beaded placemats, table runners, coaster and gold and silver napkins such as those in Kim Sybert’s Baccarat collab.
If glitzy glamour isn’t your thing, embrace your organic side and go for faux sliced wood and embossed croc placemats. Also, take your table centerpiece in the air. These over the table decorations are over the top. Drape garland, flowers and ornaments on a frame that is suspended over the table. You can create an individual, festive, organic centerpiece that doesn’t clutter the table and you can see your guests.
The excitement can extend to your holiday tree. Try a tree skirt with luxurious velvet fabric with beading for a luxe look. Or select a woven tree collar from a natural fiber for a more nature inspired feeling. Tree stands have come a long way. Try a new gold or silver tree stand that mimics the trunk and roots of a tree.
The choice of holiday ornaments is endless. Look for a wide range of ornaments reflecting individual style and interests. Did you know you can get a beaded sushi ornament from Bergdorf Goodman? There is also a pink glitter boot. Also expect to see vintage, collected or reproduction ornaments and decorations. Remember your grandmother’s ceramic light up tree? We have also noticed unexpected shapes and patterns in Hannukah decorations this year.
The good news is that you don’t need to start over from scratch with all new holiday décor. One of our firm’s favorite guiding principle is “mixing.” We suggest mixing old and new, timeless and trendy, and glamourous and rustic. Use what you have as a starting point and add in few new things this year to get into the holiday spirit. Now, go pull out those bins collecting dust. You will be glad you did.
